Agenda Ceremonies

Inclusive, refreshing, rebellious, and fun.

Not all matrimony has to be a drag.

Congratulations!

You’re here, you’re probably queer, and you’re looking for a celebrant.

I’m Jules, but some know me better as Johnny. I’m a registered marriage celebrant and drag artist based in and around Meanjin.

First, allow me to explain the name – Agenda Ceremonies. Here, we celebrate the infamous, dreaded LGBTQIA+ agenda – to be free to love, in whatever form it takes. I also, of course, plan your wedding agenda. And finally, the third layer of this tiered pun cake, for your wedding celebrant you will be asked to pick… a gender:

Either myself, Jules (they/them), or my hunky drag alter-ego, Johnny (he/him)

Now, you might be wondering, “is… that allowed?”. For a wedding ceremony to be recognised as legitimate in Australia, only the legal wording needs to be spoken – this is less than 100 words. Other than that, the rules are out. If that information fills you with excitement and creative glee, you’re in the right place. A wedding can (and should) be whatever you want it to be, whatever suits you and your love best.

CHOOSE YOUR CHARACTER (FOR A WEDDING WITH CHARACTER):

Jules

A genderqueer punk with a gentle, romantic heart, they have a passion for all that’s fun and unconventional. The presence they strive to bring to any setting is one of warmth, joy and humour. If you’re looking for a celebrant who is ready to celebrate every aspect of your relationship in any way you want – you’ve found them. Open to any and all out-of-the-box wedding concepts; if you can dream it, they want to help make it happen. Simple, grand, completely bonkers – let’s do it.

Jules graduated with a performance degree from the Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University in 2018, and recently starred as Anatole in Darlinghurst Theatre Company’s “Natasha, Pierre and The Great Comet of 1812”. They’re also a trivia host!

Now the important question – are they a cat or dog person? Lizard person, actually – Jules is the proud parent of a 20-year-old blue tongue skink called Bluey.

Johnny

Johnny, the King of Hearts; he’s a rockstar who knows how to put on a show while making sure the spotlight never wavers from you and your spouse-to-be. Despite his protests to the contrary, the man love’s love. Classy or crass, he’ll behave as much as you do or don’t want him to.

His flair and style is something that can be shaped to your desires – whether it’s 70s glam rock androgynous Johnny, heavy metal Johnny, shotgun wedding cowboy Johnny, a tongue-in-cheek priest Johnny, Frank N Furter Johnny, or even him doing his best Elvis impersonation for your Brisvegas wedding – Jonothan is ready to match your energy.

Johnny has been performing regularly in Meanjin and around Australia since the beginning of 2021, his credits including drag events, cabarets, competitions (winning Ruckus Brisbane’s “Wham! Bam! Cabaret Slam” in May 2022, and this year winning judge’s choice for Heat 3 of “The Altimate Showdown”), concerts, immersive improvised theatre, as well as working private events.

Get the royal treatment – get married by a king.
